Shams Power: Advantages of Industrial Solar Energy Systems in Pakistan

Solar power system in Pakistan

Solar energy systems can provide a sustainable solution for modern energy services in Pakistan. If you are thinking of going solar for your industrial business, here are some major advantages to consider:

Cost-Effectiveness

Many countries around the world have already jumped onto the renewable energy bandwagon to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. Pakistan is a perfect country to deploy solar power technology because it has abundant sunshine and a lot of potential for generating electricity from solar energy. However, the utilization of renewable energy is very low.

Using solar power to generate electricity in Pakistan will drastically cut down on the cost of production and reduce reliance on expensive diesel generators. Additionally, it will eliminate energy shortages and long periods of load shedding that have crippled industrial production in the country.

Moreover, the use of solar energy will significantly lower carbon emissions in the country. Although these emissions will not be completely eliminated because of the lack of modern infrastructure, updated systems, and frequent quality inspections, they will decrease to a reasonable level. This will allow the nation to achieve its goal of lowering carbon emissions by 80% by 2050.

Reduced Carbon Footprint

As a renewable energy source, solar power is more eco-friendly than conventional non-renewable sources. This is because it has a lower carbon footprint and provides a clean and sustainable source of energy. The technology also offers several other benefits, including lower electricity costs and tax credits.

Pakistan is located in the sun belt and has enormous solar energy potential. Therefore, it is important to invest in this renewable resource to address the current energy crisis in Pakistan. In addition, the solar system has a long life span and requires low maintenance costs. It is the most sustainable energy solution for Pakistan.

In the household sector, the solar energy system is an excellent alternative to diesel generators (DGs). It can reduce electricity demand and help abate pollutants in the environment. It is also cheaper than DGs and can last for up to 25 years. The optimum angle for solar panels is based on the geographical location of the house and its orientation.

Easily Scalable

Whether it’s technology companies, hospitals, non-profit organizations, manufacturing, logistics and storage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG), more and more businesses are recognizing the importance of going green and taking advantage of the essential advantages industrial solar energy offers. This includes lowering their carbon footprint, saving money on energy costs, and qualifying for tax benefits.

Pakistan is a sun-rich country with tremendous potential for renewable energy sources, including wind, biomass, and solar power. It is estimated that utilizing its intrinsic renewable energy resources can help mitigate its current electricity crisis and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

However, the use of renewable energy sources is still limited in Pakistan due to various constraints. The present study aims to identify the optimal average peak solar hours of selected rural regions in Sindh (Panoaqil, Badin, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas, and Kambar). Solar irradiance data from the NASA database are presented in Table 2. The results indicate that these remote rural regions have appropriate daily solar irradiation to generate electricity using PV systems.

Distributed Energy

Energy is essential to the growth of modern economies. It is the backbone of every aspect of a country’s economic development including agriculture, education, and health. However, fossil fuels are a limited resource and cannot be utilized to its full potential. This is why countries like Germany are switching to renewable sources of energy like solar power.

In Pakistan, electricity supply is a major issue due to heavy industrialization and a growing population. The government is trying to improve this situation by promoting the use of alternative energy sources such as solar.
